Hi all, I am building a couple of 700-800 pine sleeper retaining walls, both approx 4m long. With other walls I've build I've used galvanized steel posts and slotted in pine sleepers. This time around I'm looking to cover the walls with cement sheeting and then apply textured paint over the top. I know that there can be issues with this with joints, but I'm planning to cover those with trim (metal or timber... still deciding).
My question is - does anyone see an issue with using the HardieFlex product instead of the HardieTex. The only real difference I can see technically is that the Flex is 4.5mm thick where the Tex 7.5mm. The Flex will be much easier (lighter) to work with and since I'm a one-man-band, it sounds attractive.
My concern is that maybe the Flex product wont survive in the outdoors where it is exposed to damp (on both sides) and may weaken faster than the Tex product. Is this a valid concern?
Any thoughts/advise related to the above or to the cement sheeting over a retaining wall in general would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
