Come up with a basic layout showing paths, garden beds, lawn. 2. Get a number of quotes from landscapers. Make sure that the landscaper you go to has actual horticultural knowledge. Lots of "landscapers" can lay paving and do limestone work but they have no idea of soil prep/plant selection. 3. We went with a bloke who clearly had good horticultural knowledge (he later appeared as a regular on WA Garden Gurus). He contracted out the limestone work for the raised garden beds. +8 years later not one plant lost, lawns still look great, no real weed issues. All down to soil prep, plant selection.
