The leaves on one side have all died off - it's probably 1/4 of the canopy - hard to get pics of the whole tree as it's pretty big. Haven't seen it do this before.

Fellow Perth dweller. Looks like pruns nigra. It's a dark leaf flowering plum. Doesn't get massive and is easily trimmed deciduous tree. Very popular in small gardens in Perth
