I have a can of bitumen paint but am happy to use other options instead if it's advised? Do I need to dampproof right down to the bottom course of bricks? I've dug out to about four courses and there still seems to be more bricks - I've already filled two bins with soil! Also, are there any alternatives that I should be considering other than bitumen?
