We are in Tassie, and our land is very sticky clay, is would be great if we wanted to build a cob hut but no good otherwise. Our big problem is at the front of the house, we thought if the land sloped away a little water would run off it. We had clay that was solid as a rock so we just got it as level as we could them put a load of topsoil over it about 5 in thick roughly. It has been there for a couple of months and grass has started to grow in it from the seeds that must have been in it, only problem is that water just sits on it, its like walking into mud, why doesn't the water run off it? We didn't compress it or roll it. The first phot is an area where we have not added any topsoil yet. We want to get it ready for spring and sow some grass seed on it but we can't do anything until we get the drainage sorted out. What should we do?
