Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 May 14, 2018 9:41 am Hi folks, I'd love your thoughts about this concept sketch I've put together for landscaping to a raised terrace at the front of our home. See sketches attached. Like many others, we're at the end of a pretty big home renovation, and we've had to take this work out of scope. I plan to manage it my self, doing some myself, and using metal fabricators and tilers to do the stuff that I can't. Anyway, I'm happy that the plan works in terms of what we want from the terrace. But I'd love to hear whether this is a good idea in terms of plant survival, shade, aspect etc. The corner that is planted out is facing South East. It's located about 10k north of Melbourne. The terrace is in a elevated position (high on street), and gets no shade. The proposed fencing is perforated mesh, which seems a good idea to provide some protection from sun and wind in this exposed position. Some of the planted area is proposed as self-watering beds for smaller plants, herbs, etc. Larger plants with deeper root systems will presumably need their own pots, which can sit inside the enclosure. For drainage, terrace is graded to the SE corner, so I realise I'll need to build the seating/planting area to allow for drainage under. Given that info, do you think this makes sense?
