Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Apr 21, 2018 6:25 pm Hi All, We are building two town houses. We plan to stay in one and sell the other town house. The town house we are selling, we plan to landscape the front with a neat and simplistic design. Regarding the backyard, there will be a timber deck followed by instant turf within a define boundary. Between boundary of instant turf and fence line, there will be a soil patch of 1 meter. We are thinking to leave the patch of soil bare, but covered up with a light layer of mulch. Our thoughts are, the new owners can start with a blank canvas, therefore deciding if they want to plant their own fruit trees, veggie patch etc. on the soil patch. What do you think? Not every buyer will live there, some may be investor. Most investor just wants to throw key to real estate for lease, don't have time to go back. So basic plants that contribute towards kitchen will do such as lemon tree, rosemary, basil and mints. While I was looking for property for KDR, I always find people get excited when they see fresh herbs garden patch for kitchen. One of the reasons a typical townhouse buyer, I’d assume, is looking to buy a townhouse is for the low maintenance it provides. They probably don’t really want to mess around establishing a garden, they just want to move in and enjoy life or as an investor just rent it out. Need advice on the backyard plan above. Should I excavate and cut all of the dirt to level with the house slab or semi-excavate as per photo above?
