Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Nov 12, 2017 6:13 pm We have the space 1200 x 6300 pictured below, it's in between the pool fence and alfresco area. We want to have some sort of garden there... obviously they need to withstand some splashing with salt water and not too big (or spiky) as we still want to see through to the pool. I like succulents... was thinking agaves and chalksticks for ground cover??? Looking for some inspiration of what else would work?? That area looks like it would get pretty hot in summer and the soil quality doesn't look wonderful so your suggestion of agaves would probably work. You could also get quite creative and plant lots of different sorts of succulent (there are plenty that aren't spiky) but be aware that most of those sort of plants prefer a sandy, free draining soil and it looks like you might have some clay there. The soil is pretty compacted from building etc. No clay though. Was thinking of digging the old dirt out and putting in proper soil. Thinking along these lines with the cordylines up the end near the fence and some other small succulents or would native grasses be better??
