Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Oct 30, 2017 7:51 pm Hi guys, I laid some new buffalo turf back to a couple of month ago. It looks really bad and brown/yellow now. There are also a lot of weeds as well. I think I didn't give enough water considering this really dry winter recently. I was wondering if they have died already. So I will need to redo the job. I tried to lift some up and some of they have not established root yet. Re: Is my new buffalo lawn dead 4Oct 31, 2017 1:00 pm We had a very cold winter here in Melbourne, and my buffalo basically went dormant and looks much like your photo, particularly in heavily shaded areas. Also, the winter weeds got in much more than past years. I've pulled most of the winter weed out, and with the warmer weather, it's starting to revive again and I can see strong growth. I know Sydney has not had much rain, but if it's cold, buffalo goes dormant. Give it a light feed and water as needed and it should recover. And pull the weeds out as they only compete for nutrients. I don't like the weed and feed stuff as I think for new lawn it's too stressful for it. the leaves that are now underground go yellow, the tips that poke through photosynthesise and have chlorophyll, same reason they grow rhubarb in the dark. 5 4858 A person needs to be licensed to offer financial advice.
