Help with tree/ plant for front yard

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone could suggest a tree or plant for our front yard?. We want to plant a couple on the side fence line, however the trees will need to be narrow and also not too tall, as we don't have much room between the side fence and the start of our eaves (approx 1.2m).

Ideally I would love something deciduous. I like the look of the capital pear tree but they seem to grow very tall.

What about small variety of Japanese maple, we have 3 in a similar space that won't get very big.
