Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Aug 18, 2017 9:09 am I accidentally bought a full size Morello cherry tree, Had planned to get a dwarf. But considering we have no back yard trees, Its a reasonably good choice. The neighbours plum blocks the sun from that direction anyway. I have a north east facing wall, With three dwarf citrus (myer lemon, tahitian lime, other lime) in a relatively close proximity I plan to prune to fit in the space. The spot gets plenty of sun during summer soltice and a decent chunk of morning sun in winter autumn. The shop told me to plant the Morello 3 meters from any other fruit tree, However doing so will start to encroach on my sons future soccer field. Which was one of the reasons for getting a decent sized back yard. I seem to have misjudged 3 meters and planted it 2 meters from the row of citrus. I'm thinking the issue eventually will be it blocking light to them. But I can prune the canopy to a vase or sideways to prevent this (I hope) I was wondering, Can I just prune on the front & back side (the back side is facing citrus, front facing lawn) to encourage it to grow outwards to get around this closer spacing? Or is this more a consideration of the plants roots? I can move one of the limes, on the right somewhere to give the cherry 2.5 meters spacing from the next lime across. The soil is excellent, Watering wont be an issue the 5000 litre tank will be hooked up to a drip line & timer in hotter months. Has anyone done something similar? It doesnt look like 2 meters but it is. (veggie bed is 2 meters long for comparison) Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10947 Hello. I just bought a few acres in Habana, Mackay, and my horses seem to love hanging around under this tree. I would like to name the paddock after this tree. Can… 0 9529 |
