Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Aug 13, 2017 10:51 am Hi there just wondering if there's any concreters or someone with some concrete knowledge that could give me some much appreciated advice. My wife and i are about to get handover of our house in a couple of weeks and pretty soon after it we need to get a heap of concreting done but we have a couple of issues to deal with. First one being that we have an annoying small retaing wall down one side of the house and a water tank that is sitting on a slab of concrete where we want to lay a path down, here are a couple of photos Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The problem is that the retaining sits roughly 30mm lower that slab that's there and i'm really not sure what to do here. I have a had concreter out to messure out all the areas that i need done but he says that i need to get this sorted before he can do anything as he says that he can't just concrete over the retaining wall, is that true ? Or do i need to need to build up the retaing wall to the height of the slab ? Second issue is this Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is at the end of the other side of the house near the corner of our alfresco and that drain is a storm water drain. Do i need to put a retaing wall there and would i need to get a permit for that ? I know these are probably silly questions but we're first time builders and we've never had to deal with any of this stuff before so any advice would be very much appreciated. Be much easier if we ever need to replace the retaining, and it will help the drainage too. Versaloc is a mortarless besser block system that still needs a properly engineered footing.
