Hi All,
I'm hoping I can get some advice if this might be groundwater my problem usually happens after it rains. The left hand side of my housing is facing South so it never sees sun in summer or winter, It also receives most the rain and windat times, my house boundary is 2m to the fence line and I do have a 1m concrete path on that side, the ground level on that side is flat with a tiny slope to the fence.
My soil report nominates the first Horizon 0-400mm as Silty Sand and the second Horizon 400mm to 800mm is Silty Clay. I kept noticing the mortar below the damp proof course began to turn greenish so I caulked the concrete path and brick junction, this stopped the dampness/greenish built up .
I did have a camera inspection done on my stormwater system including the downpipe offsets and found no cracks or poor pvc cement joins. The stormwater pvc pipe was also placed on scoria.,
My neighbours house boundary is 1.2m from the fence and he has a concrete path that is 900mm wide, he has a 300mm garden space between the fence line and his path, however I have stood out there during a rainy day and noticed the rain water was not from his side but my side due to the rain hitting the first floor of my house.
Rainwater sits comfortably there it does drain after an hour or two, I have a feeling it is draining into the soil and seeping into the loose backfill where trench was dug for the stormwater pipe. I have dug numerous holes besides the concrete path trying to find out how the rainwater is getting underneath the concrete path and its impossible to pinpoint. The only thing I can think of is once the water drains in the first 400mm of silty sand it reaches the bottom where the clay is and than the water just moves laterally regardless how much fall I have on the naturel ground level.
My stormwater pipe is located 400mm below natural ground level and when I reach below the stormwater pipe I hit sold hard clay.
Please note I have checked my water meter and HWS/Solar tank for any leaks my potable water pipes all run into my wall cavities so if it was a fresh water pipe my meter would tick over I have checked it over a period of 12 hours.
Here are the photos with video. I also have dug two holes one next to the riser and one on the garden soil side to compare and find where this water is coming from.
If I need to get professional advice who do I go to and what type of engineer do I need to come out and see it ? I am located in the S.E Suburbs - Melbourne
Solutions that might help are adding an AG pipe I'm thinking of lining the soil and trench with impermeable plastic membrane beneath the AG pipe and backfilled with river rocks only and not soil..
