Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jul 07, 2017 6:22 pm Hi I have looked partly though the thread Fu Manchu's Guide to Soil Prep & Laying Turf I saw mention of Greenlife soils as being a quality supplier, I have used them for ready to plant mediums , Native mix. I was surprised that you get to see them freshly prepare it on site including Bentonite and other clays mentioned in the thread. The pre made medium,if its deep enough, i assum means no need to rotary till into the existing soil, in the garden beds I removed about 600mm down of the yellow coastal sand (area Karrinyup to Padbury) and put their product in. The alternative and of course cheaper is to buy the concentrate and mix it into existing soil. Lawn wise then, i have the same yellow coastal soil, it must have some clay as trenches 600deep hold up well. If I allow say 200mm on top of the yellow soil to place the turf, can I use a pre made soil as below http://www.greenlifesoil.com.au/bulk-products/lawn-top-dress-bulk or is it still better to manually mix in the various ingredients individually as per Fu Manchu's quick summary below Lay it by using certified organic compost, spongolite and perlite and also zeolite in good volumes cultivated through the soil to around 30cm, it will brown the first winter but go on to be more resilient as the years go on. Is there anywhere in Perth making a quality lawn medium? there is only 20% difference in concrete strength between 20 mpa and 25 mpa, so check with your engineer first if it fits his calculation tolerances.
