However when we moved in, the front yard or patio area has already been paved and we feel as though this is limiting our choices for redesigning this patio. Does anyone here happen to know any suitable changes we could make to this gloomy front yard? You'll be surprised at the difference just doing that will make. After you've done that you can make some decisions as to whether you keep them ir replace and that will dictate what you do planting wise. Just careful not to blast out any mortar. Where are there windows looking out to? When you stand at each gate, what do you want to see? Start looking around for landscape features, like large pots, screening products, light coloured large pavers. What is that area used for? What do you want to use it for? Where is the water source for irrigation?
