Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Feb 01, 2017 8:13 pm Hello all, Approx 8 – 9 weeks ago I relaid our rear garden (Perth W.A) with new turf rolls of Palmetto. The soil was prepared extensively prior as per the Fu Manchu thread. Overall I am very happy with the result however, a number of areas along the edges of the lawn now appear to be dead or dying. See links. What are people's thoughts, can I do anything to save these areas? Cheers, https://www.dropbox.com/s/8dcnilgwdqp3x ... R.jpg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/jnm2rlfj1bji1 ... Sadly I was not a member here and was not as wise as I think I am now, so my issues may have been lack of soil prep. One thought I had with some of my edges is that they didn't seem to have as good a constant with the soil beneath and never seemed to estaish their roots as well as other areas. That could be something. Palmetto is one of the slower growing Buffalos which does mean it's less aggressive and probably not as durable as Sir Walter. Re: Palmetto lawn help. 4Feb 02, 2017 1:09 pm Thanks Philip_j, I was thinking something similar re: edges not getting or getting too much of this or that. Guess I'll have to practice some patience and let those runners grow! Cheers. Re: Palmetto lawn help. 5Feb 07, 2017 11:41 am Hi Blue, unfortunately I can't open dropbox links at work so I can't see your images. Probably an obvious question, but is there anything impacting how much water these sections are getting? eg retic set in too far from the edge, or easterly/south westerly winds in the mornings/evenings blowing water away from that section when your sprinklers are on? I've bought a house 2 and a bit years ago and last year we had some major water damage on a converted pergola area… 0 7931 Yes, unless you are in a low intensity rainfall area or the area is protected from rain.
