He hasn't looked at the photo. To the untrained eye kikuyu is hard to differentiate vs buffalo in the peak of the season. He said to pull a portion of plant up and inspect for hairs on the leaves. Also, the stolons (creeping stems) look different and kikuyu has rhizomes (underground stems). Take a good photo of the stolon and it would be easier to identify on a forum. If it's kikuyu they're are very limited options. Healthy and vigorous buffalo should do good job of competing against it, but you may have to use a small paintbrush dipped in glyphosate and apply to the kikuyu leaves. This may require several applications but it is possible to control it prior to it getting out of hand. Can you take an even closer image if its kikuyu you should be able to see distinctive hairs along the stems.
