How can we prepped the area so that weeds don't keep growing? At the moment, it's just soil and its rampant with weeds. Thanks Re: How to prevent weeds growing from rocks and pavers path. 2Jan 12, 2017 12:03 pm First spray all current weeds, then I put newspaper on top, then rocks, avoid weed mat as its hard to plant new plants, then just every 2-4 weeks spend 15 minutes poisoning new weeds, ,is very easy if you get weeds early, I done all the above and weeds two years in are no problem, if left for 6 months weeds get hard to manage as they can grow in almost any surface. So hard to water and fertilise plants as well as put new plants in. Under the path however is working a treat so far. It's sandwiched between two layers of packing sand/gravel, with the pavers on top of that.
