The plant is in a bed up against a masonary wall and gets direct afternoon sun from the west and is exposed to wind. 30 minutes water a week delivered by u/ground dripline. The tree dropped a lot of leaves as the weather warmed up but immediately put out a lot of new growth and flowers. Leaves started to go like this after approx. a week. Not much really hot weather here in Perth as yet - only 2 days plus 35. Am I overwatering, underwatering? Is it wind burn? Kay Parris Magnolias in backyard with same watering regime but not getting so much afternoon sun are looking great Any help appreciated Re: Teddy Bear Magnolia Problems 2Nov 29, 2016 7:05 pm We also have teddy bears which now have been in the ground for over 12 months. Ours receive direct afternoon sun and also have leave discolour similar to yours. I have spoken with our landscaper and nursery. They have both said that it is sun burn and that the tree will be fine.
