I've just had my irrigation installed for my freshly landscaped front garden. Now the schedule the irrigation guy stepped me through wasnt overly scientific - or perhaps it was in his mind but it wasnt really explained.
So focussing on the garden beds zone only - I have about 180 metres of Netafim Techline AS dripline, with the inline drippers 0.4m apart. I believe the flow rate is either 1.6L/h or 3L/h according to their specs but I'm not sure how to determine (I can check with the installer later). FWIW, I have a very high flow rate (4000L/h) that is pressure reduced.
Now I have about 50m of new hedging to water - combination of viburnum tinus, sweet vib & jap box. I've got it scheduled currently to run 25 minutes per day whilst they are establishing (ie. next couple of weeks).
I'm trying to work out if that sounds right. Assuming 3L/h dripline it certainly sounds like it would be using a helluva lot of water to me - 180 x 0.4 x 3L = 1350L/h. So call it 600L per day (or 318L per day at 1.6L/h dripline).
Basically I want to know how long I should run the irrigation for on my new plants given my setup. What's the right way to work it out?
