Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Oct 31, 2016 4:04 pm Hi , I am about half way through removing 200mm of the topsoil in our backyard (I know it goes against all of Fu's guides but we were already into it when we realised that maybe we could have just tilled the existing) So what we are up to doing now is finding the best topsoil mix we can get in the market in Sydney (within reasonable cost) Apparently ANL have certified organic compost for ~$55/m3. Which is good. However from my reading we will need an 80:20 sand:compost ratio. The sand is dear as poison suprisingly at $70/t! Much more than organic compost! The guys as expected suggested that I should just run with already mixed turf underlay. Not sure which way I should run - can anyone share experiences/thoughts? The third option is I guess buying the standard 80:20 turf underlay and then mixing in compost to that, but would reduce the sand component further than 80% which I am not sure is a good idea. Appreciate any help you guys care to share Re: Organic Compost Sydney for new 200mm topsoil 2Dec 16, 2016 1:06 pm You can use a 50/50 blend if you want. Then add some 80/20 topsoil for top dressing.
