Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Oct 05, 2016 8:45 am Hi All, Like many people here, I've spent lots of time reading through the great posts and resources here, especially around soil prep for new turf or any general gardening. I'm inspired to follow this advice and certainly see the benefits. Just want people's opinion if the below Enviromix Compost is the sort of organic compost/soil that Fu and others refer to as the best thing to tile/how though the soil along with other additives. I can get it for $30 p/m3 here in Melbourne Some details from their site: Enviromix products are produced from recycled “garden organics” (tree & shrub prunings, grass clippings, fallen leaves and general garden waste) recovered through your community's solid waste stream. Garden organics is one of the single largest components of the waste we currently bury in landfills throughout Australia. Enviromix clean, chip, blend then compost the garden organics to the highest standards available, Australian Standard 4454. This is your mark of a quality naturally pasteurized and composted product that ensures all harmful plant pathogens and viable weed seeds are destroyed. The Enviromix process results in quality garden materials that enhance soil health and have the stability of a slow decomposition rate Link here: http://www.enviromix.com.au/uploads/4/7/9/1/47910417/enviromix_dig_it_in_compost.pdf Thanks in advance! Re: Is this the sort of Organic Compost to use for soil prep 2Oct 08, 2016 7:49 am I found it hard finding proper organic compost like Fu says to use so sounds like I used a similar compost. If you can find a pic of the actual compost post it and I'll have a look. I found the inportant part was to spend the time to ready churn up the existing soil, 200mm deep at minimum, then add the compost and churn together then level out compact lightly to remove soft spots then level if needed before roll out turf. Re: Is this the sort of Organic Compost to use for soil prep 3Oct 10, 2016 12:10 pm Thanks for your reply. I've found a pic from their site and it looks pretty good. As far as i can tell from their documented process it seems like a pretty good product. I dont know how much food waste is used in the compost but it primarily comes from the green waste that people dispose through council. Here is the pic from their site of the compost: http://www.enviromix.com.au/gallery.html And here is more info on their process: http://www.enviromix.com.au/process.html Cheers Phil That sucks! Hope it all works out.
