Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design Re: Concrete Driveway options 3Sep 20, 2016 12:28 pm julia1301 Im following this post as we are just about to have our driveway laid in exposed aggregate but not sure on colours yet. Stamping to me seems to be the most practical and best value for money? I mean you get a coloured concrete surface with character. In future repainting or resealing is easy as theres no stencil lines you have to worry bout. Its also much cheaper than exposed aggregate. Anyone else wanna chime in?? Re: Concrete Driveway options 4Sep 21, 2016 1:25 pm If you were doing a coloured concrete driveway. What do you consider when choosing the colour of driveway? Should it match your facade colour ... Or maybe your garage colour? Does lighter colours look better or make area look bigger over darker colours? Anyone? Re: Concrete Driveway options 5Sep 22, 2016 11:07 am We are still deciding on colour but are doing a covercrete. Upside to this is we were able to get a plain driveway installed at a lower cost, we can then do all the landscaping and anything else that will create a mess and once finished do the finish to the driveway. At the moment, we are looking to do a black tile look with white grout lines. Re: Concrete Driveway options 6Sep 24, 2016 12:11 pm We're looking at our driveway options now... Possibly coloured concrete ... Or a saw cut concrete like this: http://www.cutitoutconcrete.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/cut-it-out-concrete-sawing-and-core-drilling-architectural-driveway-and-footpath-cutting-2.jpg Re: Concrete Driveway options 7Sep 24, 2016 12:45 pm We did a coloured concrete driveway, but now need to seal it - which is pretty much painting it with a dark colour - to get the dark colour we want. Turns out it could be plain concrete and it would still look the same after we "seal" it with this paint. Sooo could have saved ourselves some money and used plain concrete from the start! This is apparently the darkest colour they had (and is unsealed/not painted): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Concrete Driveway options 9Sep 24, 2016 2:31 pm If you don't me asking what did this cost roughly? Re: Concrete Driveway options 12Oct 13, 2016 7:24 pm I'm choosing my dw olour to be in harmony with the house. We have black window frames, black front door. I want a 'stamped' driveway too. In BLACK-BLACK. Cobblestone pattern. I can't find anyone to do it Not even 'Panorama Pattern Pave' the people who say they invented it! Seems like exposed agg is the 'in thing' and what all the concreters want to do. I don't like it anymore. Any recommendations for Adelaide? Cat-dunc I think your dw looks great! The paint/sealer will chip or wear some time, so your extra $ weren't spent in vein. I bet it's darker when it's wet/rained. Re: Concrete Driveway options 15Oct 16, 2016 2:10 pm icebreaka Looks like we're leaning towards getting plain concrete poured... then getting a resealer in to spray a layer of plain colour.. Probably charcoal, dark grey or black... Yeap im leaning the same way... To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9830 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10926 |
