Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 19, 2016 1:28 pm Hi All, I have a fairly large landscaping job earlier next year for my own home that will be being built. I am starting to plan and order some of my plants for April next year (I have some ingenious species but the remaining all Natives) and have a question about snapping up some bargains when i see them. For some of the larger screening plants (Silver leaved Stringybark, Silver Banksia's etc) i want to know if I find a good deal on some bigger pots (10" - 16") - Can i get them now, keep them looked after in their pots for 6 months, and then plant in Autumn next year? Does anyone see any issues with this? Anyone done anything similar? FWIW i'm in Melbourne. Thanks in advance Re: How long have you kept plants in pots before planting? 2Sep 20, 2016 7:15 pm When I have bought plants in pots for later use I have re-pottted them in the next size up pots, so the roots can continue to grow freely. That should eliminate any chance of stunted growth and just give them some more room to grow if need be. Cheers Re: How long have you kept plants in pots before planting? 5Oct 27, 2016 12:49 am I started buying my plants (palms) in pots three years ago. Repotted once into very big pots. They got pretty established. Saved a lot of money 0 4689 Ardo That is so funny! I wonder how many people know who Larry Haun is these days.
