Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Aug 31, 2016 11:23 am Just had a local turf supplier out to quote on a turf install for my new house. I've already got everything leveled off and graded. The ground is awful clay.
The quote is $4750 for supply and installation of 190m2 of Sir Walter Buffalo with 50mm of underlay and fertiliser. The yard has no access issues and can have a truck driven all around it. I was considering DIY but I have a baby arriving any day now and just don't have the time to spend on all the preparation. I'm happy to pay the price if that's a fair price I'm just wondering if I should bother seeking other quotes. Re: Is this a good quote for turf 2Aug 31, 2016 11:59 am Rough prices: Sir Walter turf $12 per m2 Underlay soil $50 per m3 ($2.50 per m2 @ 50mm depth) Thats about $2755 for materials. Maybe factor in some cost of delivery if they charge extra. Therefore its around Couldn't tell what the fertiliser cost is as it depends on what and how much they use. May come to around $1800 for labour. That would cover the spread and leveling of the soil then laying the turf. Plenty of other suppliers so call round and get a couple more quotes. You can also ask them to itemise the quote. Re: Is this a good quote for turf 3Aug 31, 2016 12:17 pm Thanks for that. I wish I had the time and tools to go through DIY to save all that money. I tried searching for other suppliers in my area (Newcastle) but struggling. Every landscaper I called was not interested in taking on the job as they only go for jobs that are $5k+. Re: Is this a good quote for turf 5Sep 01, 2016 9:41 am Good point Crazyk. That also extends to soil type. You can safely assume a professional turf supplier has this covered. Usually more a concern for DIY jobs. Although it ever hurts to ask the question. Re: Is this a good quote for turf 6Sep 01, 2016 6:09 pm Fortunately the turf farm it is supplied from is about 20km away.
