Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Aug 02, 2016 12:32 pm I've had a hell of a time getting quotes for stuff. People come out and have a look, say all the right stuff and then just drop off the face of the planet. Only one person has gotten back to me. Is anyone able to tell me if the following prices are reasonable: 12m2 Merbau deck on ground - $3500 excluding stain 4m wide 1.8m high merbau screen including 1.2m gate section - $1932 1.35m wide 1.8m high merbau screen - $650 Re: Decking and Gate Prices 3Aug 02, 2016 8:22 pm I would say too cheap . I wouldn't be expecting a high quality job at that price .Often the reason tradies won't quote on a job is because there are variables and since they are unsure of their cost they walk away from a job . Re: Decking and Gate Prices 5Aug 03, 2016 12:37 pm Well I'm certainly pleased with the responses from you guys so thanks for that. I have seen his other work and it is very good. He is local to my estate and has done gates and decks for lots of people here. Gates/screening are steel framed and posted, welded on site then merbau screwed to it. Deck is 90x19 merbau on stirrups with stainless steel screws. Built under the roof line of the house. Re: Decking and Gate Prices 6Aug 06, 2016 9:49 am I noticed this also I remember when my parents use to get quotes and it was all written out and priced out so you had it on paper. I got a heap of quotes for concreting they would roll up tell you a price not right it down anywhere and that was that. Of about 6 concreting quotes one guy got back to me to see if I wanted to proceed. I was amazed to at each ones opinion on what I would need to do to my concrete slab. I ended up going with an older concreter he done a fantastic job wrote his price on the back of a business card and stuck to it on pay day. It makes you wonder they say there is a downturn in the building industry ?I wouldn't believe it though I think there is plenty of work for people in the construction industry. Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 1290 I should have followed up on this thread. So, the pier foundation wasn't large enough on the side it was leaning towards, and the NBN cable went through the pier, just… 8 10709 Get some long brass machine screws and bolt right through the gate and put brass acorn nuts and washers on the other side.
