We have an area of our backyard that is in part shade. It appears to be the favourite haunt of wandering trad (Tradescantia fluminensis, also previously known as wandering jew).
Whenever I have removed it always seems to come back – either through the neighbour’s fence or fragments left in the ground. I wanted to come up with a more permanent solution to address this.
I was wondering whether there are any other (more desirable) plants that can outcompete this weed in the places where it likes to thrive (e.g., somewhat shaded areas)?
I was also thinking about daggering up that part of the garden and replacing it with something else (so that it has nothing to grow in) however I don’t think that this would be a good solution, in that the area is under trees (and so if I put a rock garden down within a short period of time it would fill up with leaves, then dirt and then more wandering trad).
Does anyone have any suggestions?
