Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Mar 13, 2016 7:16 pm We're planning on laying 90 square meters of Sapphire Buffalo in Melbourne next weekend using Fu Manchu's soil prep instructions. Today, we installed 12 Pope professional series pop up sprinklers. The manufacturer instructions say to water a lawn 20-30 mins per branch (we have 3 branches). Does that sound right in terms of watering a newly laid lawn-1.5 hours each time? Also, after we initially lay the lawn, do we need to water in for even longer? thanks! Re: How long to water new turf for? 2Mar 13, 2016 9:16 pm No exact time with new turf, as long as the sod stays moist and the soil is damp to about 100mm thats all you need to worry about. Once the turf establishes then you need to work how long it takes to saturate the top 100-150mm of soil per irrigation (dependant on soil type). Which is about 30mm of water applied without runoff.
