Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Feb 29, 2016 10:04 am I'm currently working on my nature strip, and doing it from scratch. digged and replaced all crappy stuff (top 15mm) with quality top soil. laid 25 sqm Palmetto turf over the weekend. decided to reduce garden bed width to 600mm from 1m. due to this change in design, ran short on Palmetto by 4 sqm. now my options are: 1. buy 4 sqm Sir Walter from local Bunnings and add this with freshly laid 25 sqm Palmetto. 2. or buy 4 sqm Palmetto from the same supplier which is about 3 hours round trip drive my question is how big would be the color difference if i will add Sir Walter with Palmetto? Re: mixing Sir Walter with Palmetto in same area 2Feb 29, 2016 10:07 am Re: mixing Sir Walter with Palmetto in same area 3Feb 29, 2016 4:01 pm I'm certainly no turf expert, but I would go with Palmetto. I have Palmetto turf in my front yard and nature strip and my neighbour's have Sir Walter. At the moment, their Sir Walter is looking a bit greener than my Palmetto so I suspect there would be a bit of a colour difference if you tried to mix the two in the one area. Sir Walter should also grow a little quicker than Palmetto. Re: mixing Sir Walter with Palmetto in same area 4Feb 29, 2016 8:37 pm Sir Walter should have a better depth of colour on average across the year. One of the main differences is that Palmetto will not handle chemical application (for weed/pest/fungal treatment) as well as Sir Walter. Meaning if you need to spray for clover or other pests, your Palmetto will get knocked about a bit Re: mixing Sir Walter with Palmetto in same area 5Mar 01, 2016 3:33 pm Thanks guys. managed to order palmetto 4 sqm from sunshine west. At least it's 1.5 hour return trip Hopefully it would be all done by this weekend. Our backyard has Sir Walter, and very happy with that too.
