Our less than one year old santa ana couch lawn has been producing excessive amounts of seed heads since summer started. Due to the seed heads, the lawn feels quite prickly and not so soft to lie down on it.
There is around 15% area where there are not many seed heads. The lawn is fertilised in spring and is being mowed every 3 weeks or so. It is being properly watered using pop up sprinklers and we have seen a lot of rain recently as well. I have applied seasol, powerfeed and molasses as well in spring.
I have checked the soil and have managed to keep it moist for the last one month hoping that the problem could be due to insufficient water.
Can someone suggest a fix for this?
