It's 1 metre wide and 15 metres long and I am located in Melbourne. I would love something to make the fence less obvious but don't really want a formal looking hedge or anything too fussy or messy. I love the look of the ficus but I don't think it's recommended to plant them in a garden bed ? Depending on height you want here is a few that work in Melb; Chosiya Ternata murraya paniculata Trellis on fence with Star jasmine (which allows more room for lower plantings) Camellia ('japonica' for shade or 'sasanqua' for sun) Viburnum Versaloc is a mortarless besser block system that still needs a properly engineered footing.
