Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 08, 2016 10:18 am I've been looking at houses in my estate and it seems very common to not have a separate front path to the front door. Instead the driveway or an extension to the driveway is used. So curious to see what other people have done and why, did you put in a separate front path? i.e. without separate front path http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b439/Aloenyx/frontyard.jpg i.e. with separate front path http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b439/Aloenyx/frontyardwithpath.jpg Re: What option did you go with for a front path to your hom 3Jan 11, 2016 4:19 pm I'm torn. I'm the same, I like the ideal picture that having a path presents.. but it will cost me more in paving a separate path and additional fencing/gates. Re: What option did you go with for a front path to your hom 4Jan 11, 2016 8:34 pm I haven't put too much thought into my front yard yet, but I'm leaning towards a cross, something like your without pic, but add some pavers towards the letterbox/front of driveway. Re: What option did you go with for a front path to your hom 5Jan 11, 2016 9:09 pm Coloured concrete path to match driveway, but my front door is a fair distance from driveway, so it is necessary. Inclusion by builder. viewtopic.php?t=81011 Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81011 Re: What option did you go with for a front path to your hom 7Jan 12, 2016 4:59 pm I'm leaning towards a cross too, additional concrete to create a curve from the front of the porch towards the drive. Need to find out what the builder will charge (They are doing the driveway). Re: What option did you go with for a front path to your hom 8Jan 17, 2016 2:35 pm We just personally preferred the look of having a "path" to our front door! Here are a couple of pics: http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x271/gootza/Mobile%20Uploads/image_3.jpeg http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x271/gootza/Mobile%20Uploads/image_7.jpeg sorry about the crappy pics haha. I feel this way guests won't need to battle our cars on the way up to the door. We've just moved in so we'll see what we *actually* do in the coming months! Re: What option did you go with for a front path to your hom 10Jan 18, 2016 4:44 pm Wow, love your front yard! That path is awesome, and I love the way the angles work. Looks really lovely ^_^; I've seen my land recently and I have a little hill at the front, so might need to do a split level path like you've done. Ideas ideas!! I have to admit, I love the formalness of having a defined front path. ^^; Yeah I like the idea of people being able to approach the house without having to squeeze past cars... still torn, but coming up with more ideas Re: What option did you go with for a front path to your hom 11Jan 18, 2016 4:57 pm We will have a verandah but hope to pave a path to front door. Re: What option did you go with for a front path to your hom 12Jan 18, 2016 7:25 pm My hubby had pointed out the exact same thing! I think we prefer the path to the front door option. feels a bit odd to walk up to the garage and then over. But we will see how it works out! Re: What option did you go with for a front path to your hom 13Jan 18, 2016 7:32 pm I think a front path makes the landscaping a bit more interesting/special. Especially when you have the modern style of facade, were you have a central porch with a front door facing the street.
