Firstly thanks in advance for your advice!
So we have mostly finished renovating the inside of our 1990s house and now looking to update the landscaping but finding it much harder than inside to even get started. I'm not sure if it's worth getting a landscape designer to help? Rough budget would be up to $25k to complete it all and the house is located in the Hornsby Shire in Sydney.
The house bricks won't get rendered (I don't like it + cost) and the mission brown trim and roof will eventually get painted charcoal. Most of our retaining walls and garden beds are large bush rocks.
From here really just looking for some advice as I don't know where to start!!
My issues:
Patio area:
- - Not sure which paving colour and type to go for considering our brick colour (terracotta with grey flecks). Ideally looking at something large format to modernise the space.
- I like sandstone but not sure if it works with our brick colour due to a clash and may be too expensive anyway
- We need a roof on the patio as it's not very usable at the moment. Ideally a stratco outback louvered roof.
Pool:
- - Looking for the pool area and patio to use the same pavers so there is some "continuity" between areas. Currently they are totally different and the pool is an eye sore.
- The pool backs onto national park but doesn't really blend with the bush at all.
- I think our BAL will be too high for any decking. Not sure about mod deck/aluminum?
- I hate the white rocks around the pool and they are a pain to maintain and walk on
- There is an empty slab where the old owner had a sauna which was removed (white tiled area). Currently it just houses the pool equipment next to it. No idea what to do with that space?
- Pool itself is in decent condition and only built in 2003.
Some ideas:
- - Update patio + pool + pool coping paving to large format pavers (around 80-90sqm total)
- Pool definitely needs a glass fence
- Change pool retaining wall to something that fits in with the bush ie sandstone/sandstone cladding. Length of the wall you can see from the house is 10m and 1m high so shouldn't be too expensive to replace?
