Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 04, 2016 8:49 pm I'm building on 2.5 acres and will have a driveway no longer than 50 metres. Would love some suggestions on driveway trees or see some pics of your driveway if you have planted trees. Ideally evergreen as I don't want twigs in winter and nice looking tree looking trees I guess! On our front fence we have a Robina robusta hedge (well it will grow into a hedge!). Also would love to see some ideas on how to do front yard. Will need to be able to back out of garage and drive up driveway plus visitors need to park easily. I'm not a fan of having car access right outside my front door. So maybe a roundabout type thing after some lawn? Any recs would be appreciated! Here's a current pic. We have 5 acres but will not be landscaping it all, just the area around the house and the drive and front yard. Your photo shows a cleared yard around the house too. Have you a BAL managed area to think about? I know there are rules on what you can plant and the same if you have a septic system, what you can plant has to be the right stuff. If you have Bal stuff, you have to keep your driveway clear 4 meters for the road and another 2 meters on each side clear and nothing 4 meters above it so watch where you plant trees, and you have to have a turning area for fire trucks to meet the BAL, also think about what species of tree and plants, some burn way too easy. That's all I can think of for the moment, when we have a big area to landscape it is very daunting to think what to do with it. Leaving 1 acre out back for horse or sheep in future. Then garden/lawn around house. Here's our bal requirements. Nothing has been said about driveway so there must not be any requirements. We will be thinking about what we can do with the front of the house for starters and work our way around. The bush will be left as is, just make some tracks around the place and build a pergola up the top of the block, it gets steeper as you go back up the hill. I want to plant some maple trees and have them on the north side off the house so when the leaves drop they let the light in to the house. Other than that I have no ideas so far, not much help am I. This form part of every DA requirement 3 180582 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 31784 |
