Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Dec 27, 2015 8:18 pm Hi all, I seem to have a hard time finding info on safe plastic lining as well as soak well like material for wicking garden bed. If anyone in this forum have good knowledge on what kind of products I can get to create a safe wicking garden bed, I would appreciate very much to hear from you all! Basically I have built a wooden frame for raised wicking vegetable bed, with putting in small soak well like containers to act as water holders with sand surrounding them. I went to Bunnings to look for small soak well containers but non of them have clear infos on the kind of plastic they are made out of and whether would will have chemical leach that may be harmful. Same here as well in regards at looking for plastic lining for the inside of the wicking bed to hold the water in, I was looking at pond lining in Bunnings but not much info on the plastic material whether it is safe or not. Thanks friends! Re: safe food grade plastic for wicking bed 2Dec 31, 2015 10:49 pm Polypropylene is food grade and it also complies with AS/NZS 4020 - Testing of products for use in contact with drinking water. This includes testing for the leaching of compounds that may produce a mutagenic effect. 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage.
