Hi all, first time poster here.
Earlier this year we redid the lawn at our Melbourne residence. Put some new topsoil down, seeded a new lawn. I don't remember exactly, but Rye was one of the components (I think the intention from the seed box was that one type would grow first while the other grows). Anyway, the lawn started to look kind of alright, bit bare but it was getting there, now it's completely dying.
So, trying to diagnose what the problem is and where I should go from here - whether we should even rip up the grass and try a new type, or what to do.
Problem is, not I'm not sure what grass is coming through:

Can anybody tell what type of grass that is? I figure identifying what we have is the first step to diagnosing the problem (you can see in the background how bad it's become..... )
Thanks in advance!
