They probably don't even make much profit when you factor in labour and materials. Can't wait to get my second quote and compare. On another note, does anyone know of a cost effective external plantation shutters company? I'd really like to try and achieve the look below on our alfresco... Re: Landscape Inspiration & Design Concepts 326Dec 21, 2016 5:16 am M and T, Most large companies that do indoor shutters will also do outdoor shutters. However don't do this till you get your full OC. Once you enclose a wall like that council may consider the alfresco as part of your living area and it may breach your living space : land ratio. I recall asking our council the question on if they included alfresco in their calculation and they said it depends. viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Landscape Inspiration & Design Concepts 327Dec 21, 2016 5:33 pm If you are in Sydney pm me if you'd like a quote on your landscaping. No fancy programs involved with our business. But he was spinning out and some of the quotes u guys have got. Just way over priced. Turf would be $600 on an average house after build. Very good turf is < $10 per sqm. Some turf companies will roll the turf out for you for less than $2 per sqm. Top soil is about $54 -$60 per tonne. If you are willing to put the sweat and tears then you can get things done for a lot less. The structural things like retaining walls, masonary work need professionals. I also found when you do DIY you can modify plans and add things as you go without getting slapped with variations. The downside is the time it takes to complete the works and not being able to walk or lift your arms end of the day lol! viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Landscape Inspiration & Design Concepts 335Dec 22, 2016 4:13 am Happy holidays to all and enjoy your xmas shopping for your landscape items! For us we need to prepare for our Landscape works so have to go around to a few nurseries to checkout out plants & flowers for our garden. Also need to check out external lights (floodlights, spot lights, wall lights, deck lights, etc). So see you all in the New Year! @Orph Build thread: viewtopic.php?t=78328 Home Furniture: viewtopic.php?t=80551 Technology Hub: viewtopic.php?t=83663 Landscape Design: viewtopic.php?t=80645 Orpheus Building the Metricon Glendale 38|Sydney Re: Landscape Inspiration & Design Concepts 336Dec 22, 2016 5:44 am We get our keys tomorrow, so our landscaper is also starting tomorrow! We have a puppy, and the side fence is pretty much falling down, so he's going to get started on levelling that side and putting up that side fence plus some extra fencing to create a little yard for our fur baby. Unfortunately the neighbour on that side is known as the 'difficult' one of the whole neighbourhood. We've never even met her despite months of trying, so we're pressing ahead with the fence without her agreement. We've put two letters in her mailbox and knocked on her door four or five times so there's really nothing more we can do. And would the landscaper/contractor generally involve the engineer or is that something the client would do? Thanks for your help 2 10020 |
