I am building in the Hills District. Total block is 1500sqm with landscaping including around the house roughly 1,000sqm
I keep complaining re our 740 sqm land and the huge backyard. But they aren't making any more land?

A landscape architect would charge at least double that. Stewie Yes well there you go, ours was designed by an architect. Food for thought folks. In residential gardens, landscape architects are no better or worse than a garden designers. There is nothing exculsive about the design either creates, generally speaking landscape architects are more skewed to the hardscaping elements and the project/contract management which they specialise in. Garden designers generally have more focus more on the plants and the softscaping elements. If a landscape is going to mainly consist of $$$$ of hard works with pools etc then a landscape architect is better suited. If the owner wants a garden where the vegetation is the focus along with the hardscaping then a garden designer is better suited. Some architect/designers do both well, it's all about what style of garden you want. But don't think for a second paying $$$$ for a landscape architect plan on a residential garden is somehow superior. There are plenty of garden designers charging huge fees as well. There is also plenty of designers who charge reasonable fees. It all depends on the complexity of the job.. Every landscape/client/budget etc is different so just depends what you are after. When I hired the company I did it was never about "they cost more so must be better", rather I saw their work and was amazed at what they can do! Re: Landscape Inspiration & Design Concepts 198Jul 14, 2016 8:28 pm I'm sure you didn't that way too sco77k, was just clarifying for anyone else reading. Reckon you will get a great result from your design and the garden will have fantastic detailing. Re: Landscape Inspiration & Design Concepts 199Jul 15, 2016 3:43 pm How close to your DA submitted design does your final planting actually need to be? I'm not looking to change hard/soft surfaces but my DA landscape plan has gone into way too much detail and I'm sure the bank manger will say no if I try and plant it all. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78995 Build thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78995 Re: Landscape Inspiration & Design Concepts 200Jul 15, 2016 5:02 pm If you are in NSW and the native planted area is part of your BASIX requirements then you will have to follow the planting pretty closely. Otherwise it would be more about the hard surface to soft surface area ratios as part of the councils requirement. Stewie Landscape Design Parramatta We have been doing a large amount of landscape design work in Sydney… 0 3 Need advice on the backyard plan above. Should I excavate and cut all of the dirt to level with the house slab or semi-excavate as per photo above? Both left and right… 0 24875 Thanks very much! And would the landscaper/contractor generally involve the engineer or is that something the client would do? Thanks for your help 2 10036 |
