Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Oct 03, 2015 11:30 pm Hey all, This might seem a silly question, but we are not people with green thumbs and do not normally DIY so here goes. We have a corner lot with a walkway in front and at the secondary street. We are not entitled to the developer's landscaping package as we bought the lot from the original owner and not from the developer direct. We will be handing the verge landscaping ourselves after handover and have opted for a non-turf, waterwise garden, i.e. mulch the entire area and plant natives or drought resistant plants. Currently the verge surface is just sand and we intend to use jungle mulch after putting the weed mat down. So the questions are: 1) What type of ground preparation would be needed before mulching? 2) Is soil prep required for the entire area or only where the plants are going in? Because it is quite a long verge area and we are on a budget, any advice would be most useful and appreciated.
