Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Oct 01, 2015 2:46 pm I have moved to a new house and the lawn has a lot of weeds. BUt there is one weed I do not know what it is and how to control it. Looks similar to winter grass but it is not. These pictures were taken a couple of months ago. The buffalo is now greener ans the winter grass is growing those seed shoots and i keep mowing it as I understand its too late now to try and spray for it. Will have to wait till autumn for that.
So this other weed seems to grow in little bunches. Does not seem to spread from a central area say like a clover, but its all here and there like pimples on a face. It is in a way similar to winter grass but it has a darker green. Never seen it flower or seen any seed pods since I have been there. Anyway here is a couple of photos. I hope you can help. One is a closeup and other is a wider shot where you can see some samples of it amongst winter grass. PS: Where as the winter grass is reasonably easy to pull out , this one is not. Thank you for your time. UPDATE: I have sprayed with a buffalo safe herbicide 3 days ago. I can see the clover and other broadleaf weeds dying but this one that I do not know what it is unaffected by the herbicide. ON left is winter grass and on right is the weed I would like to know what it is. You can see that the winter grass has rounded leafs as the unknown has slim flat blades which when looked closer seem to be serated. Its also darker green and is much much harder to pull out of ground. Even though at this stage it is as tall as the winter grass it still does not have any seed growths. Hope this helps somewhat.
