They're usually lily pily trees, and they make for great privacy screens. I'm actually looking at putting some down the side of the driveway to stop people from staring over at us all the time. The one I like the best has crimson new growth, it's called "big red". They are natives, hardy and fast growing. There's a maze down the road which has used them and they are huge and high. So make sure you get a variety that's not too large. I also like Dombeyas for screening. They are native to Africa,also hardy and fast growing once established. We have them growing along our back post and rail fence. They have lovely large flowers (pink or white ones). When the flowers die they stay on the plant for quite a while until they go brown and even then the plant looks good.
