Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 20, 2015 2:49 am Hi All, Wanting ideas on what are some good side dividing fence types. Looking at buying a house that is in need of a new fence before we could get a dog. The current fence is a mix of box mesh held together with termite mud (no timber left) on one side and crawling garden vines over i think chicken mesh or fine chain wire on the other. The current fencing does not give any privacy but it opens the place up a lot, so I was not wanting to go with a solid colorbond panel fence, OR pine palings due to the termite infestation. (PS. Termites haven't gotten to the house). What other options are out there? What do you have and would you recommend it? The house block is 40m sides and the the fence will attach to the house once it comes up along side. The thoughts I have at the moment are: 1. I can get these fabricated and all materials for ~$6,000 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The problem with this one is, doesn't really give any privacy until the garden is grown, and if the neighbors change, maybe more privacy might of been nice. 2. Aluminum or alternate slat fence. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Problem, aluminium is not cheap and is most likely more than what we want to spend. Are there any other non-timber options out there? Re: Side fence ideas 5Sep 27, 2015 12:00 pm Bummer about the house not coming through. The first pic you have looks great! But for dogs it should be 1.8m high and not see through if you can. We have a dilemma now with our fence and need to make it not so see through (excites the dogs) and so the dogs can't break through! Our temp fence wasn't good enough for our small dog.
