Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 19, 2015 7:23 pm We will be laying Matilda buffalo turf on nature strip and yard in the next week or so. I have 50sqm of Sir Walter turf that was laid 8 months ago in half the back yard that we will be ripping up to redo the soil prep (zero prep done when it was laid). Looking to transplant the SW onto an end section of the nature strip. As we have 275sqm of turf to lay all up, this will save us a few dollars which I can put towards soil prep. Will be hiring a turf cutter attachment ($40/day) when we hire the dingo/rotary hoe to help with getting the turf out neatly. some silly questions: Will there be any issues when it comes to mowing ? Seeds of one getting into the other ??We will always mow the Matilda first then finish with the SW. If no issues, I was also thinking of taking it a step further and laying alternate rolls of SW and Matilda over 100sqm of the side nature strip (ie the 50sqm of the transplanted SW and 50sqm of Matilda). Anyone alternated grasses like this ? I am thinking it will look like a striped cut lawn over time ? Or will one grow into the other and look messy, seeing SW is broad leaf and Matilda is finer leaf. Re: Laying different turf types together 2Sep 21, 2015 2:14 pm I found a thread where Fu actually encourages the mixing of different turfs. He said it is a practice of some of the best in the horticulture industry. He advises to mix it by coring a different variety and planting into a cored section of the original variety. I suppose that is a better way to mix than doing strips side by side as I was thinking. Anyone else have any thoughts on this ? yep you need a joint, foam is easiest, will look fine once rendered with a joint. 2 5243 Hi, have purchased a house with 2 single garage doors.
