Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jul 20, 2015 2:06 pm Hello - we are first home builders and owners and are completely stumped by where to start with landscaping. We are building in Lake Macquarie, currently the house is up to brickwork so we have a little time. We thought we had a very steep front yard and a flat backyard....until the cut the site for the slab now we also have a backyard that is cut in half by two different levels! We know that retaining has to be a metre off the boundary but dont know where to even start in terms of where to place retaining, how to get best use of space, how much cut and fill can we do and does it require council approval etc. I want to engage a landscape designer to run through with us and draw up a plan - my partner can do all the labour. All I can find on the internet though is designs for plants etc. Any advice on where I can get good advice from in terms of landscape / retaining design or where we can start in terms of how do we do this would be much appreciated.
