Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jul 13, 2015 12:48 pm We're oon to be building our two storey home on a 512 sq block, so not huge. Anyway, as the homes surrounding us, will in time be built and i imagine close to ours, we're looking at ways to make our home more private. We'll have 6 ft fences that the builders include, but can you recommend any trees that are good for privacy, maybe around the 8ft plus size. thanks Re: Low maintenance trees for privacy 2Jul 16, 2015 10:20 am Hi there I would recommend Silver Sheen. It grows straight up to 3 meters and if you don't want to touch them you don't need to. They will grow vertically and not too wide. Of course if you want to shape them or make them thicker, you would have to spend a few hours ever 3 months pruning them back. They take a few years (3-5) to grow to 3 meters but you can pick up 80cm high pots for $13 or so. Very easy to maintain otherwise.
