Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jun 25, 2015 6:06 pm Hi, I have recently cut down a massive tree in my front yard and a month later I notice that there are small sand mounds all over my lawn. I've looked at them and they don't seem to be ant mounds. Not an ant in sight. There is also no holes under the mounds. There was a huge storm here last weekend with alot of rain, and I've searched for similar situations others have had and narrowed it down to worms or beetles. Anyone else have any experience with this? Should I be concerned? Re: Mounds all over my lawn 3Jun 26, 2015 9:25 am Could be small ants. I see them on the golf course. Like crabs on the beach - but the holes are tiny. Is the lawn OK ? They may be aerating it for you - free of charge. Re: Mounds all over my lawn 4Jun 26, 2015 1:46 pm The lawn is basically dead haha, the tree that was there stopped anything from growing. I originally thought it might be ants, because we had ants before, but their mounds were alot less in number and there were always 100s of ants all around them the leaves that are now underground go yellow, the tips that poke through photosynthesise and have chlorophyll, same reason they grow rhubarb in the dark. 5 4831 A question.
