We are soon to start building a house, and have been debating whether to get real or artificial grass in the backyard. We are in country SA, and there are water restrictions etc.
What are the positives and negatives of artificial grass?
Also, I have seen pictures where it looks great, but has anyone had it for a couple of years and can confirm that it still looks good after being exposed to the weather for a while?

Nearly one year old and still the same

The one that is 5 years old has a big dog and a son who is constantly playing cricket on it. Although, I'm not sure many would be into smoking their lawns!! The only thing is it may need some maintinance - applying more sand or rubber as the time goes by - but much better than mowing and watering every week.
