Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Mar 24, 2015 10:21 pm Hi, I have not done this before and hence am seeking some guidance on how to go about installing a subsurface irrigation system. I have read some of the related discussions here which has been a big help. However, I am not certain on a few things. Some background on this backyard project. I am based in the western suburbs of Melbourne. The reason for considering subsurface irrigation is efficiency and water usage (based on some discussions I read here) The area of the lawn is 11 x 8 mts. (sir walter buffalo to be installed) I have 19 mm poly pipes running along the length of the lawn. The 13 mm dripper line will be installed connecting the two poly pipes with a distance of 500 mm between them. The lady at Bunnings mentioned that 60 meters is the maximum length that can be installed via a single line. I was not aware of this and thought I could easily add more dripperlines to the same poly pipes with just the one line coming out the tap. So this means I will need to install a three-outlet automatic tap (Holman brand, comes with solenoid and controller) to run three sets of dripperlines. This has thrown me off a bit as it means an increase in cost and efforts to put the dripper line in. Would a sprinkler system be more cost effective? or am I better off just using a good garden hose? Any help on this much appreciated. Thank you. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ fAiTh_LoVe_HoPe Re: DIY Subsurface irrigation for new lawn 2Mar 25, 2015 3:59 pm hello again. Is this correct?
