Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Mar 24, 2015 1:41 pm I have just moved into a new house and I am currently tackling the back yard. It looks like the previous owner mowed with no mulcher or catcher so there is heap of thatch to remove which i am in the process of doing. I also plan to core and over seed the lawn once i am ready. Problem is before i spray a weed killer i want to make sure i don't kill the grass. Can anyone please help me with identifying what type of grass i have. It's a quite popular choice around Melbourne lately. I would personally recommend to be careful with the weed killers they sell on the market. Read the instructions carefully and make sure the lawn is not new, because new lawns can be easily damaged by chemicals. Your lawn must have at least 6 months before it's safe to use a weed killer. You can also try some natural ways to limit the weeds on the lawn, like feeding, aerating and scarifying the grass regularly, which will make it stronger, remove rosette-type weeds by hand until they completely stop growing and apply garden lime in winter, if your soil is acidic. You should also remember to avoid close mowing, because this will weaken the grass and make it easier for weeds to grow. the leaves that are now underground go yellow, the tips that poke through photosynthesise and have chlorophyll, same reason they grow rhubarb in the dark. 5 2912 Hi there, I'm a conplete newbie to this, but I'm looking to put a floor down in my 6x9m shed.
