I'm wanting to plant large shrubs or small to medium tree out the front of the house against windows as the main bedroom is at the front. What plant is safe to plant this close to the house? As our house is on a slab. Im wanting something that is low maintenance. Can be a Australian Native. Thanks Re: Plants with small root systems 2Mar 17, 2015 7:43 pm Firstly plant away from the slab as far as you can. Secondly the roots of any shrub will only grow where there is moisture, so don't water near the slab.. Keep it dry = no roots.
